DC Leh Santosh Sukhadeve chairs 8th District Level NCORD Committee meeting

Leh, July 18: Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve who is also the Chairman of District Level Committee (DLC) under Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD), Leh chaired the 8th NCORD Committee meeting with the concerned members today.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Leh, PD Nitya apprised about the recent arrests of culprits under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and their modus operandi. She further informed that the cases has been doubled since last year and mostly involved are the locals.

DC Leh stressed on intensified crack downs against drug peddlers along with intensive awareness/sensitization camps and inspection drives conducted in a coordinated manner between the concerned departments such as Police, Medical, Education and Social Welfare, etc. He directed the concerned officers to plan a sensitisation programme about drug addiction on sub-division level with participation of all the concerned stakeholders, including school principals, students, Yato Club members along with the parents as well.

Additionally, he suggested that creative short videos on drug addictions can be a part of sensitisation program and directed the officers to work in close coordination and identify a suitable place for rehabilitation centre in the region.
He also urged the religious, political, social leaders and general public of the district to support the administration in effective crackdown against drug abuse in Leh.

SSP Leh; District Social Welfare Officer ; District Health Officer ; Chief Agriculture Officer; District Education Planning Officer ; Excise and Taxation Officer along with Drugs Control Officer attended the meeting.
