District Administration Kargil distributes free food items to migrant labourers

KARGIL MAY 28, 2021

In the wake of the situation emerged due to COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent Corona curfew, District Administration Kargil has been taking concrete measures to ensure provision of free ration and other essential commodities to the migrant laborers across the district, so that they do not face any inconvenience.

As a part of the ongoing measures to ensure supply of essential commodities and other basic food items to the migrant laborers, on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil Tsering Motup distributed free rice, dal, cooking oil, milk powder, soap among more than 100 of these laborers and daily wage workers at Baroo here today.

Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR), Kargil Abdul Gaffar Zargar, Assistant Labor Commissioner (ALC) Raziya Khatoon, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives Dr Zakir Hussain, Block Development Officer Sodh Jigmeth Angchuk besides the officials of FCS&CA and Municipal Committee Kargil were present on the occasion.

Later, the committee of officers led by the ALC Kargil distributed the free food items among laborers and daily wagers in Kargil Town and adjoining areas including Baroo, Baroo Tsog, Titichumik and other locations in and around Kargil Town.

 

Food items were distributed among the laborers as per the scale of rice 5 kgs, , dal 1.50 kgs, cooking oil 1 liter, nutri nuggets 1.50 kgs, sugar 0.50 kgs, milk powder 0.50 kgs, 3 masks and 1 soap per person besides sanitary pads for female laborers.

Furthermore, free medicines are also being provided to the needy laborers on production of doctor’s prescription.

Meanwhile, the free food items are also being distributed in Sankoo, Drass, Shakar Chiktan and Zanskar Sub Divisions through the respective Sub Divisional Magistrates (SDMs).

Pertinently, around more than 4500 migrant laborers will be provided free food items across the district as per the list provided by the officers committee constituted at the district headquarter and SDMs from the respective sub divisions.
