GDC Drass organizes day-long expedition-cum-field trip training

KARGIL, SEPTEMBER 15, 2022:

Govt. Degree College Drass in collaboration with National Mission on Himalayan Studies and Department of Botany, University of Jammu on Wednesday organized a day-long expedition-cum-field trip training on collection and identification of macro-fungi.

The session started by welcoming guests with traditional khatak. Dr Amjad Ali Abbasi, Principal GDC Drass presented momento to Prof. Yaspal Sharma as a token of love.

In the first session, Prof. Sharma elaborated the importance and scope of wild mushroom in Drass. He said that they have discovered new species of mushroom from Drass subdivision.

Dr Abbasi appreciated and thanked Prof. Sharma and his team for organizing field training for the students of GDC Drass.

 

Later, Prof. Sharma and team presented a shawl to Principal GDC Drass as a token of appreciation and support.

In the 2nd session, the whole team, along with students of the college visited Manmantop to explore macro-fungi present in the area.

Dr Tahir, Dr Azhar, Komal, Homely under the supervision of Prof. Sharma guided the students during the field trip.

Dr Imtiyaz Hussain, Assistant Professor Botany requested to arrange a workshop and training to students of Mushroom Technology.

Prof. Sharma assured that in coming days they will arrange a workshop-cum-training program particularly for the students of GDC Drass.
