His Holiness Dalai Lama begins 3-day visit to Zanskar valley

KARGIL, AUGUST 11, 2022:

Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness 14th Dalai Lama, who is on a visit to Ladakh, today began his three-day visit to Zanskar valley and was received at Padum with a warm welcome. The administration has made elaborate arrangements for the visit.

HH Dalai Lama was given a warm welcome at Padum Civil Helipad by Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan, EC Er Phunsok Tashi,

Member of Parliament Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, SSP Kargil Anayat Ali Chowdhary, SDM Zanskar besides Councilors in LAHDC Kargil from Zanskar, representatives of all major religious and social organizations of Zanskar.

HH Dalai Lama was escorted from Helipad to Photang Vihar in presence of thousands of devotees who earlier thronged Padum from various villages of Zanskar and Kargil.

HH Dalai Lama was received with warm love and accolades from the people of Zanskar at Photang amid tearful eyes and emotional scenes.

At Photang, HH Dalai Lama had a brief interaction with dignitaries, disciples, and monks associated with various Gompas of Zanskar and later gave a brief sermon as well.

While addressing on the occasion, he congratulated the people of Zanskar for the incarnation of 10th La Gyal Rinpoche and expressed happiness that Rinpoche under his guidance is studying and learning at Dharmshala for the last four years.

HH Dalai Lama expressed happiness over the love shown by the people of Zanskar. He said it is always a great experience to stay in Ladakh, Zanskar and interact with Ladakhis.

He advised people to seek knowledge, express love and affection with each other and asserted to preach and practice communal harmony and peaceful existence.

Pertinently, HH Dalai Lama is scheduled to give his sermons and address to the masses on August 12 and 13 as well. Meanwhile, the administration has made elaborate arrangements for the visit.
