ADC Kargil reviews status of accessibility standards, audit report of public buildings

KARGIL, AUGUST 11, 2022:

Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Wani today convened a meeting to review the status of accessibility standards and audit report of public buildings in pursuance of Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

The meeting was attended by Superintending Engineer PWD (R&B), Assistant Commissioner Development, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, Executive Engineer REW, besides other concerned officers.

During the meeting, detailed discussions and deliberations were held department-wise on the status of developmental works achieved in the construction of disabled-friendly public buildings in the district.

The ADC directed the concerned officers to prepare disabled-friendly DPRs in the upcoming public buildings. He also instructed to make provisions of ramps and separate washrooms in the ground floor of existing buildings.

The ADC also directed CEO Kargil to furnish a detailed list of number of disabled students in the district at the earliest.

Stressing over the overall coordination between different departments to build disabled-friendly public buildings, the ADC directed all departments to furnish action plan as soon as possible to take suitable measures with the higher authorities.
