IWD, International Day of Sign Languages conclude at GDC Drass

KARGIL, SEPTEMBER 22, 2022: International Week of the Deaf (IWD) and International Day of Sign Languages concluded today at Govt. Degree College Drass.

The program was started by Mumtaz Ahmad, Assistant Professor with welcome speech followed by a brief outline of the session.

Speaking on the Occasion Mohd Ali Shabbir, Assistant Professor demonstrated many signs in which the deaf people communicate. He also advised students to learn some basic sign languages so that they can communicate with a deaf people.

Students of UG 2nd Semester presented a skit-themed “building inclusive communities for all”. The skit focussed that the specially-abled are talented and efficient.

Dr Amjad Ali Abassi, Principal delivered the valedictory speech of the week-long program on the IWD and the International Day of Sign Languages. He thanked all staff members and students for successfully organizing the events.

He urged students to treat specially-abled persons with respect. He assured that the college will provide all facilities required for specially-abled students enrolled in the college.

The session ended with vote of thanks presented by Waheeda Rehman Mir.
