JTFRP organises training on Decision Support System in Leh

Leh, June 01: In view of the apprehension associated with disasters of different nature, the Jammu and Kashmir Economic Reconstruction Agency (J&KERA), Project Management Unit- Jhelum and Tawi Flood Recovery Project (JTFRP) imparted training on Decision Support System (DSS) for emergency management, through the implementing consultant RMSI Private Limited, India, at the Conference Hall, D.C. Office, Leh,

 

As part of the training activities, the consultants provided live demonstrations and hands-on training to the participants on the DSS mobile and web applications. The consultants explained the different modules – preparedness module, hazard monitoring module, and emergency module and how they can help in prepositioning resources in vulnerable locations, and effectively coordinate with different line departments during the emergency.

 

The concerned officers were informed by the consultants regarding the importance of timely response to the incidents which can save lives and reduce the costs associated with inefficient response efforts and reconstruction.

 

The Decision Support System not only provides data/information related to emergency response but also provides a three-day weather forecast which can be used by the district control room to alert local bodies of any upcoming weather incidents. Local bodies can thus take appropriate measures to reduce the impacts of unprecedented weather incidents.

 

The meeting was attended by the Chief Medical Officer, Leh; Executive Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control Division, Leh; Nodal Officer, DMRRR, UT Ladakh; Tehsildar Leh; Tehsildar Durbuk; Tehsildar Diskit; Tehsildar Kharu; Tehsildar Khaltse; Tehsildar Saspol; Tehsildar Sumoor; Tehsildar Nyoma and other concerned officials.
