Traffic Police Ladakh launches special drive against traffic violations

Leh, June 01: Traffic Police under the aegis of PHQ Ladakh launched a special drive against traffic violations, such as over-speeding, dangerous driving, driving without D/L, violations of PUCC, etc. and Sticker Challaning against wrong parking in the twin districts of Leh and Kargil from May 28.

 

To ensure the smooth execution of the enforcement drive special nakas were established at different places like Kargil-Drass road, Kargil-Sankoo road, Kargil-Leh road, Leh-Nubra road, Leh-Upshi road and Leh-Kargil road.

 

Modern traffic gadgets, including Speed Radar Guns, Alcometer, etc. were used for better execution and enforcement of the Motor Vehicle Act. To ensure better traffic regulation and mamagement Traffic Police of UT Ladakh is equipped with new wireless communication sets, retro-reflective jackets, modern gadgets, motorbikes and other equipment.

 

The enforcement drive against traffic violations is increased especially considering the increase in motor transport vehicles in the ensuing tourist season.

 

Traffic Police have collected a fine of Rs.1,57,25,750 till the end of April 2022 for different traffic violations.

 

Similarly, 761 traffic challans were executed and a fine of Rs. 282000 was collected from the traffic violators in the last three days.

 

SP Traffic, Mohd Rafi Giri exhorted that the enforcement against traffic violations will increase in the coming days and special drives will be carried out against drunk driving, road rage, off-road driving, dangerous driving and high beam lights. He said that every step will be taken to ensure that traffic is plying smoothly and uninterrupted.

 

SP Traffic also stressed the public cooperation for traffic management and urged them not to violate the traffic rules of designated parking and entry points. He said that measures are in place to ensure that the public and tourists do not face any difficulty in traffic movement.

 

DySP Traffic, Mohd Baqir; DTI Leh, Dorjay Angchuk; Flying Squad Incharge, Inspector, Jameel-Ul-Rehman; DTI Kargil, Kacho Sadat Ali; Sub Inspectors Mohd Shafi and Ghulam Ali; Enforcement Squad Incharge and other officers/ officials of traffic police were at the forefront of this enforcement drive.
