Program on Poshan Abhiyan, plantation drive held at GHSS Shargole

KARGIL, SEPTEMBER 17, 2022:

A day-long program on Poshan Abhiyan campaign and plantation drive was held Govt. Higher Secondary School, Shargole which was attended by a large number of women farmers, ICDS workers, Panchayat representative, teachers across the block.

Tsering Nurboo, Chairmen Block Development Council Shargole was the chief guest, while Ishey Namgyal, Principal GHSS Shargole graced the occasion as guest of honour.

The chief guest in his address thanked Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kargil team for choosing Shargole block for this important event. He advised the audience to follow the instruction and guideline discussed by the experts on the consumption of healthy food by efficient utilization of available resources to reduce the prevailing problem.

Principal GHSS Shargole also expressed his concern about the dietary intake of the students that he noticed in his school and instructed the teachers of the schools to create awareness among the students about the importance of a healthy diet.

Dr Muhammad Mehdi, Principal Scientist and Head, KVK Kargil-1 gave a detailed lecture on efficient utilization of rich depository of nutrient available in underexploit vegetables besides discussion on incorporation of these vegetables in daily diet.

He said the ICDS workers, school teachers and public representatives can play a vital role to reduce the anaemic cases from the district through awareness in their respective villages/mohallas.

The recorded message of Agriculture Minister, Narender Singh Tomar were translated in local language and discussed before the audience.

Nutri-garden, the importance of bio-fortified food and tree plantation were discussed by Dr Nasreen Fatima and Dr Rinchan Dolkar. In the end, seeds packets from IFFCO were distributed among the farmers, teachers and ICDS Workers.
