Secretary, Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan takes detailed assessment of tourism infrastructure development works in Nubra Valley

Stresses on completion of works within stipulated timelines

Leh, Aug 07: Secretary, Tourism and Culture, UT Ladakh, Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan during his tour of Nubra Valley on Saturday took detailed assessment of the undergoing and proposed works on assets and facilities of the Tourism Department, Ladakh.

Secretary, Khan visited the under-construction Cafeteria and Toilet Complex and Amphitheatre at Sumoor near the Buddha Park and took on-spot review of the progress achieved on the project. He instructed the concerned officers to prepare DPR for additional facilities like performance area, sound and light system, parking, toilets, change rooms, face-lifting besides other requisite facilities at the Amphitheatre through a relevant consultant.

The Secretary, Tourism along with team of officers and engineers also inspected the medicated hot-spring building and public convenience at Panamik and directed the SDM, Nubra and Executive Engineer, LDA for immediate demarcation of the tourist facility site and premises. He inspected the area for further development as a well developed & managed hot water spring cum medicinal massage centre.

Later, Secretary, Khan also visited the Siachen Base Camp and instructed the concerned officers to identify suitable land/location near the base camp and complete the DPR at the earliest for construction of wayside amenity, in sync with the ambience of the area, for tourists/visitors.

At Samtanling Monastery Sumoor, the Secretary, Tourism and Culture directed the concerned engineers to prepare DPR for protection of the heritage area of the monastery.

While interacting with the locals, Secretary, Khan said the Tourism and Culture Department, Ladakh is making concerted efforts to further upscale tourist facilities in Nubra Valley for facilitation of tourists/ visitors and the local population. He assured that demands including development of sand dunes at Sumoor and inclusion of Sumoor Fort in the heritage list will be considered for appropriate follow up action.

Director, Tourism Department, Ladakh Kunzes Angmo; Sub Divisional Magistrate, Nubra Dorjay Gyaltson; Executive Engineer, Tourism Development Authority, Leh Tsering Angchuk; OSD/Under Secretary, Tourism and Culture Department, Muhammad Ali Tak besides other concerned officers accompanied the Secretary during the tour.
