Secretary Padma tours Kargil, visits GDC Kargil, ITI Kargil, Anganwadi centres

KARGIL, APRIL 22, 2022: Commissioner Secretary for Higher Education, Social Welfare and Technical Education, Padma Angmo on the first day of her visit to Kargil district inspected Anganwadi Centres under Chiktan project and Kargil project under ICDS and visited Government Degree College Kargil, Government Industrial Training Institute Kargil.

The Commissioner /Secretary Social Welfare visited Anganwadi centres at Bemathang, Zgang Baroo, Silmo Colony in Kargil and some Anganwadi centres at Chiktan and Shargole blocks. She interacted with the CDPO, Supervisors, Anganwadi Workers and Helpers and discussed various issues specific to the centres. She also interacted with the children in the Centres and their parents.

 

At GDC Kargil, the Secretary took an assessment of various ongoing works and also visited the newly-constructed girls’ hostel and directed to make it functional at the earliest.

The Secretary Higher Education also visited various blocks, classrooms and interacted with students at length and addressed their grievances and issues. She also interacted with faculty and gave a patient hearing to the issues forwarded by teachers.

 

The Secretary directed to increase the capital expenditure and asked the college authorities to send a proposal for the establishment of an environmental science laboratory.

 

Secretary Padma acknowledged inclusion of new courses and subjects and said that decisions will be taken after due consultation with the administration.

 

She was informed that Sankoo Degree College has been made functional this year and good number of student have turned up and enrolled themselves for different courses.

 

The Secretary also visited the skill centre of the college and interacted with the students. She stressed on students to get benefited from different government-sponsored schemes for better economic prospects and enhancement of skills.

 

At ITI Kargil, she visited various trade sections of the campus and interacted with the students.

 

Secretary Padma advised students to enhance their skill so that after the completion of their courses they can get better employment opportunities. She asserted that Self Employment Mela should be held every year and students should get benefited from such events.

 

The Secretary also directed to ensure timely internship to students of Draughtsman course with the concerned government and other agencies.

 

Secretary Padma interacted with the concerned officers and the students and took assessment of the facilities being provided to the children at these centres.

 

The Secretary directed to update the relevant data on Poshan Tracker App and ensure necessary training at the earliest and directed to provide the necessary facilities and services to the children in timely manner.

 

Project Officer ICDS Nargis Banoo, Principal GDC Kargil Amina Qari, District Social Welfare Officer Aga Syed Jamal, Principal ITI Kargil Muhammad Kazim, CDPO Kargil Parveen Akhter and concerned officers accompanied the Secretary during the tour.
