Unity Runs to be held across Ladakh on National Unity Day

Leh, Oct 28: Secretary Youth Service and Sports, Ravinder Kumar held a meeting pertaining conduct of “Run for Unity” in UT of Ladakh, on 31st of October on the eve of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day).

During the meeting the Secretary directed the concerned officials to organise ‘Run for Unity’ at schools of both Leh and Kargil districts, besides organising a UT level event in Leh and Kargil.

Deputy Commissioners Leh and Kargil, Joint Director Youth Service and Sports and Directorate of Youth Service and Sports, Leh and Kargil, and Deputy Director Nehru Yuva Kendra were directed to conduct 100 unity runs in each of the districts.

It was also directed to ensure that all the socio-religious leaders and sports icons of Ladakh are invited and participate in the event, apart from participation of school children during the event. For the Programmes to be conducted at the school level, a short run shall be organised after taking the pledge, copy of which has already been circulated. It aims at including people from all walks of society with a view to spread the message of National Unity and the spirit of Rashtriya Ekta and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in UT of Ladakh.
